Sean Mooney's experience with the Brain Health Research Program

Just recently we advertised an opportunity for former players to undergo a free assessment via the University of Sydney's Former Athletes Brain Health Research Program (see details below)

One of the Wood's well known former players - Sean Mooney - took up the offer and here's what he has to say about the experience

I completed the research program under the guidance of Campbell Thomson last Friday.

What an experience! Campbell guided me thru the process; 1 hr in the MRI machine and then about 2.5 hrs of cognitive testing. It wasn’t a “stroll through the park”, but a highly informative exercise. Like all “aging” people, we are nervous about losing our memory! Guess what? Training, such as reading, crosswords, puzzles etc can wake up brain functionality! I am back reading again.

Please feel free to share my contact with anyone who is interested in doing the course. Cheers, Sean (0412 238 104)

Here's a great picture of Sean from June 1978. The caption from getty images reads

"RU at Nth Syd - Nths Vs Eastwood. Eastwood Rugby Union halfback Phil Young gets the ball thrown at him by hooker Sean Mooney from this maul at North Sydney Oval yesterday. Northern Suburbs breakaway Graeme St John tried to block the throw."
