Former lower grade player Tony Sloane has passed away after some months in a local nursing home.
Tony, a no nonsense back row or second row forward, known as “The Sheriff”, played for the Club from 1965 to 1971. A first class upholsterer by trade, Tony donated his services making and repairing the Club tackle bags and scrum machine pads in the sixties and seventies. Whilst water skiing with some of his Eastwood club mates, he was lucky to survive smashing into an overhanging tree branch which punctured his lung.
His funeral will take place this Saturday at 10am at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium, Delhi Road North Ryde.
