This change is simple in words but will have a big impact on the game
"The tackle height will be lowered to below the base of the sternum"
Why is the tackle height changing? Quoting from Rugby Australia
"The risk of concussion is 4.2 times higher when a tackler's head is positioned above the sternum of the ball carrier. Research has proven there to be a significant reduction in concussions with the lowering of the tackle height."
Rugby Australia have been flagging these changes for a while but now its official; from this season all Community games will be bound by these new rules (Super Rugby and Wallabies are are this stage excluded)
